1962 Ferrari 250 GTO: This apple-green drive, which was made for race driver Stirling Moss, sold in a private transaction for $35 million, becoming the world's most expensive car in the world. One of 39 GTOs that were manufactured from 1962 to 1964, the car was sold by a Dutch businessman Eric Heerema to US-based classic car collector Craig McCaw.
This car is followed by a 1936 Bugatti that sold for about $40 million in 2010.
