Many young couples today are choosing to whisk themselves (and their guests) away to remote destinations to tie the knot. However, when trying to choose a destination, you are likely to come across one too many. From a historic site to a beach locale, we've got a host of options for you to choose from.
Water-way to say 'I do' - Trinidad and Tobago
The Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago have often been described as paradise on Earth. And a wedding here seems to be the perfect way to embark on the journey of a lifetime. Picture a barefoot, beach wedding, where guests are greeted by the sounds of waves lapping the shore, the sun setting in the background, and a vibrant buzz that only this island can offer. While you will find azure blue waters in many locations across the globe, few places can match the energy of Trinidad and Tobago, the islands that showed the world how to host a carnival. An additional perk is that the amended Marriage Act makes it possible for non-resident couples to get married on these lovely shores in only three days. Who says destination weddings need months of planning!

A Royal Affair - Ashford Castle, Ireland
The proverbial 40 shades of green; blue skies that merge into the sea; gabby locals with tales to share; Guinness on tap, and hauntingly beautiful castles - this may sound too good to be true. But these clichés come alive only in the Emerald Isle, making it the perfect location for your fairytale wedding. While there are many castles in Ireland, the Ashford Castle, located on the Mayo and Galway border is perhaps one of the most romantic structures in the country. The medieval castle dates back to the 13th century and is a beautiful example of imposing Victorian architecture. Set on over 300 acres of park lands, the castle overlooks the shores of Lough Corrib, a large, peaceful lake. Stroll through the sprawling manicured lawns, walk into the enchanting walled garden or step onto the lakeside pathways and choose the perfect setting for your timeless pictures.

Celestial, yet hedonistic - Thailand
Whether you're a party animal, or spiritually inclined, Thailand has what it takes to win you over. Few destinations can combine hedonism with a touch of the prophetic. But Thailand does just that. Temples stand alongside bars, or artistic performances depict religious mythology, staged not too far from bars where gorgeous lady-boys leave audiences smitten. Whatever your taste, Thailand serves it up - from over-the-top celebrations that will have your guests talking about your wedding for days; to cultural events with a Thai puppet show, or a Thai drum dance performance; right down to a private wedding, set by the sea, which the two of you will cherish forever. What's more, for an urban vibe, you can choose a city wedding in Bangkok, or opt for the laidback tropical paradises like Koh Samui or Phuket. For old-world charm, head to the city of Chiang Mai. The choices in Thailand are endless. Already a popular wedding destination for Indians, wedding planners here are tuned into desi demands - from an ornamented elephant, to spicy Indian food, or even fusion Indo-Thai cuisine - you can find it here with ease. Often celebrations here are similar to those in India, but they come with a unique touch - that of the exotic.

The 'Garden of Europe', a UNESCO site - Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, Czech Republic
Picture this - you and your beau enter on an embellished horse-drawn carriage. You are surrounded by a picturesque pond; a serene greenhouse with colourful flowers, and captivating woods that reverberate with the sounds of exotic birds. And since no celebration is complete without a toast, your wedding location also features a chateau with a wine cellar. That's right, you can experience all this, and more, at one single location - Lednice-Valtice in the Czech Republic, which has rightly earned the title of 'Garden of Europe'. Three hours by road from Prague lies this estate, which is spread between the two towns of Lednice and Valtice, and spans a whopping 283 sq. kms. It is perhaps the only landscape of its kind that features gardens, water bodies, hiking trails, baroque buildings, neo-gothic architecture, a Turkish minaret - connected together by a countryside fashioned on the lines of the English landscape. Little wonder that this estate is also on the UNESCO Heritage list. And a part of these historic grounds can be leased for weddings, receptions, and other celebrations. Tie the knot here and you too will be a part of history!
