Auction Alert: Royal Gem-Set Mirror to be Sold at Bonhams

The courts of kings and their palatial mansions have always found a special place for mirror décor. It is considered to add richness in a very unique and interesting way. A mirror which has come from our rich past is now going to be auctioned at Bonhams. It is on April 24 that this spectacular piece will revealed to the world in New Bond Street. Indian artefacts have always witnessed a great selling point during auctions and this one could just create a new record in its own right.

The oval shaped marvel has intricate carving and the perfection in its work speaks volumes about the skill that the craftsmen had in those days. Made out of white jade, the mirror is a vintage property. It is estimated to go back to the era when Shah Jahan was the emperor. Now that's a long time back! This ancient belonging is for all right reasons estimated to gather some $63,400 to $95,100. The beautiful flower carving on the back surface truly stands out. The external edge of the mirror has been embellished with several rubies and emeralds. The red and green gleam does add to the fascination attached with this piece. Many have called the work on the mirror finding similarities with Mughal architecture. This could only be a compliment!
