Week in Luxury Launches: Brand New
The Honeycomb collection by Alexander McQueen
Love is in the air this Spring-Summer, and its directed towards some serious silk madness. Roughly translating Parisian brand Hermes’ latest to-die-for scarfs, the collection ‘Folie de Soie’ is creating all the buzz for its fluid prints, vibrant colours, and lighter than air appeal. With gorgeous model Karlie Kloss fronting the campaign, this one’s a winner in our books already.
Another iconic brand that has our attention is the house of Alexander McQueen. Their range of honeycomb themed couture and accessories is an eccentric take on the season’s nuances, and will leave you feeling like quite the Queen Bee. Our favourite pieces would have to be the Gold Honeycomb Studded Punk Skull Box Clutch and the Gold Bee Honeycomb Bombe Hip Bustier.
And while money can buy a lot of things, there are times when your luck runs out and all you must do is observe and appreciate. Such is the case of a one-of-a-kind Harry Winston jewellery box. Commissioned by Wallpaper magazine for their annual Handmade issue, this exquisite creation is a Stephen Burks masterpiece that made a flash appearance at Salone del Mobile in Milan. Possibly every woman’s dream, the custom-designed box has gorgeous transparent exteriors and an emerald-cut silhouette.
The most expensive whiskies in the world
Drinks On Us
Great Gatsby seems to be making all the news for its uber chic fashion, its celebrity star cast, and even its multiple brand associations. Cashing in on the movie’s brouhaha is popular department store Harrods, with a 20s-inspired underground bar that will set up premises from May 9-20. With an art-deco theme, some theatrical cocktail-making sessions, we think this move will be so jazz.
For all those who fancy something slightly stronger than those cocktails, we’ve got a range of whiskies that promise to do the trick. From the $75,000 Macallan 1926 Fine and Rare to Glenfiddich’s limited-to-61, 1937 edition, it’s easy to see that the great scotch makers still offer the finest in the world, as long as you have a very deep pocket to foot the bill.
Mercedes-Benz G 550 Night Edition
Those slated to visit China in the near future might want to chalk up a new stopover in their itinerary. Now home to the largest Rolls-Royce showroom in the world, the Shenyang address sprawls over two storeys and 1,200 sqm in floor space. What’s more, the automaker garnered ample publicity by unveiling an exclusive Phantom Coupe at the store’s opening.
And while China’s got British backing, Japan’s joining forces with the German Mercedes-Benz. On the receiving end of special treatment, Japan will be the only base for a limited-to-100 edition of the marquees’ G class four-wheel drive–the G 550 Night Edition. The car promises to be a dream drive and features 18-inch twin 5-spoke alloy wheels and the AMG over the fender. Consider an import?
