Science of Fashion: Lecoanet-Hemant Create Astro-Inspired Installation

Luminocity by Lecoanet Hemant
Fashion and art go hand in hand. In the case of Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar, it comes with an element of sci-fi drama.
At the opening ceremony of Bonjour India 2013, held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, the designers unveiled a collection of sculptures they created especially for the occasion. The real light installations, titled luminocity, borrowed inspiration from astronomy and Indian mythology to create a surreal projection.
‘Inspired by the beauty of the satellites, we wanted to unite a vision of the future; of art and science fiction. Our creations use translucent fabrics to replicate the feel of unique sculptures. By way of our art, we hope to push the boundaries of creation,” the duo stated in an email interview.
To represent the orbit of satellites, the line comprises of eight main outfits followed by 12 small ones. They will be on display until the end of March.
