Even as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan remained missing from the Cannes red carpet, Sonam Kapoor made a stylish entry at a high profile party hosted by a leading fashion label and a magazine. In fact, we can tell you that the actress, who is travelling with makeup artist Namrata Soni, got an opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of Robert de Niro, Alec Baldwin, Salma Hayek, Naomi Watts and Jemima Khan at the soiree, which has earned the distinction of drawing the most fashionably dressed Hollywood A-listers.

On the other hand, Mallika Sherawat, whose first appearance got a thumbs down from her 'followers', more than made up for it in a backless nude gown. Away from the flash bulbs, at the India Pavilion, it was down to serious cinema, when Anurag Kashyap (Gangs of Wasseypur) and Vasan Bala (The Peddlers) and Ashim Ahluwalia (Miss Lovely) were greeted effusively by fans and representatives of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. All eyes are now on the screening of the Indian films and the results.
