Sex & the City Cupcake Shop Opening in India?

The Magnolia Bakery, whose cupcakes have become international superstars thanks to Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, may be coming to India soon.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the New York bakery has just been granted approval to sell the Magnolia franchise, and the cupcake brand is looking to go global. Steve Abrams, who co-owns the bakery, told the business journal that the Magnolia brand was largely thought of as "a luxury brand outside the US, especially in emerging markets in South America and the Middle and Far East."

That's probably why he's already in talks with prospective buyers here in India, as well as Hong Kong, Qatar, Kuwait and Brazil.
