Mumbai Opens its Doors to The Lust Pantry

Befittingly enough, Rushina Munshaw-Ghildiyal welcomed MasterChef Vikas Khanna to A Perfect Bite Cook Studio for the launch of her new venture–The Lust Pantry. All the little jars of yumminess here are hand crafted by Rushina and her team. Lining the shelves are extras like cookbooks, wooden kitchenware from Summer House, statement accessories from The Big Bang and condiments, pickles, etc.

We scouted around the quirky little Lust Pantry to see what we could pick up, and here’s a list of the favourites we took home.

Anna Rascalla Meat Rub

Rushina’s signature recipe, this aromatic blend of coriander seed, chillies and fenugreek against a background of curry leaves is enriched with crunchy sesame. Rich in iron and calcium, it is ideal to use as a rub, infuse in marinades, temper dal with, add to salads as dressing, or even sprinkle on to savoury bakes.

Citrus Burst Marmalade

This one tastes every bit as good as it sounds. Citrus flavours—tangerines for sweetness, layered with sour pomello and bitter haunting kaffir lime—with a kiss of spice from chilli and a tiny bit of sea salt.

Persian Rose Pistachio Kehwa Mix

A combination of rose petals, pistachio and sugar, this is APB’s take on the Kashmiri tea—Kehwa. “Simply stir into hot water for a fragrant cuppa any time of the day, add it to your morning cereal or porridge for an exotic jumpstart, stir into desserts and bakes for fabulous flavour, or sprinkle on Crème Brulle for a new twist on a classic,” suggests Rushina. 

Spiced Sugars

Rushina has put together a few great spiced sugar mixes including kaffir sugar, orange anise sugar and a citrus infused one. She recommends using it on porridge, in cereal, sprinkled on morning toast, desserts and puddings for a burst of flavour!

Coasters with an Attitude

The Big Bang Theory has quite a collection of quirky fridge magnets, coasters and badges. Our favourite ones had James Bond with the line ‘Mere paas Martini hai’, or our friendly neighbourhood superhero’s motto - ‘With great booze comes great irresponsibility’.
