He has designed platters, liquor bottles, shoes and accessories, and now maverick designer Manish Arora, who is the new creative director of luxury brand Paco Rabanne has turned his attention to desserts.
Arora has designed a patisserie for the 149-year-old Café de la Paix in Paris, where heads of states, royalty, artists and poets rub shoulders with visitors from around the world. Called Best of Five, the pastry, which is part of the restaurant's Fashion Pastry segment, is shaped like a pyramid comprising several heart-shaped layers each of a different size, flavour and texture.
The pastry rests on an almond sponge base, and alternates between crème-brûlée-style vanilla cream, mango mousse, mini-cubes of apple and white chocolate, all wrapped in a slab of bright red chocolate.
If you think this could send your diet for a toss, worry not. At Rs 1,100 for a slim slice, chances are you may not be tempted to go for seconds.
