Lalit Modi's Parents Throw a 'Destination' Anniversary Party

As the 2011 wedding season enters its home stretch with the arrival of December, India's swish set is taking a break from various exotic nuptials to celebrate a marriage that has stood the test of time.

The owners of Godfrey Phillips, K K Modi and his wife Bina, are hosting a lavish party in Bangkok this weekend on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.

We have learnt that the entire Siam Kempinski has been booked from December 3 to 5 for more than 400 guests, who will be entertained over various events ranging from the traditional to the pop.

While it has become impossible to get any first- and business-class air tickets from India to Thailand as a result of this ultra-chic exodus of family, extended family, and friends, there will be one notable absentee.

KK's son Lalit Modi, last seen in these parts after the third edition of the Indian Premier League, is unable to move from his London house, with all sorts of Indian agencies looking for him in connection with financial irregularities in the T20 tournament. Knowing him, Lalit will probably make up for not being there with a series of congratulatory tweets.
