How will a high end designer promote road safety? By designing a safety vest, of course! And that’s exactly what French designer Karl Lagerfield has done. What’s more, Chanel head designer Lagerfield will wear the florescent yellow safety vest in a French ad campaign promoting road safety.
In the ads, the haute couture designer wears the jacket over his trademark black tux and stands against a backdrop of a dark highway. The tagline reads “It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't match anything, but it can save your life.”
France plans on making it compulsory for cyclists to wear this florescent safety vests, embellished with a refectory triangle, and campaigners are hoping Lagerfeld will be able to convince them of that.
The French government’s campaign comes after a 10 per cent raise in deaths caused due to road mishaps.
