Fun in the Sun: Mumbai's Socialites Head for the Sea

The best way to overcome the heat and the humidity is: a) flee to London, b) stay in your air-conditioned ivory tower and c) head for sea - but not unless it's in the Birkin of all boats. So that's what a bunch of women did on a sultry Tuesday evening
A rather lovely young newly anointed 'rajmaata' - arguably the only one who traipses across Chowpatty in sexy linen shorts - hosted a champagne sundowner with Bom-babes "before she is packed away for the rainy season" (the boat, not the baisa, that is).
The hostess, if you haven't yet figured it out, was Sangita Kathiwada, couturier, entrepreneur and handicraft honcho. Some of the windblown guests on the chic Azimut yacht, included Sabina Chopra, Seema Mehrotra, Ananya Goenka, Neerja Shah, Srila Chatterjee and still more. Needless to say, the city looks its best from this angle, when the gentle waves suspend you into disbelief.
On the other hand, speaking of restaurants, Mumbai is fast turning into a happy hunting ground for Michelin starred properties and chefs. And buzz is that an internationally acclaimed restaurant is coming up in the burbies' favourite five-star.
The new venue will serve authentic Spanish cuisine and will be steered by a Michelin starred chef. While the hotel management is unwilling to divulge much at this stage, we have been told that one of the highlights of this property will feature an al fresco space with unencumbered views of the Arabian Sea. Food with a view? Bring it on.
