Coming Soon: SIDCL brings Starwood’s Westin to Rajarhat by 2014

At a hefty investment of Rs 600 crore, Shristi Infrastructure Development Corp (SIDCL) hopes to take over the reins for management and operations at the soon to open Westin, Rajarhat. 

Slated to see the light of day by early 2014, a 15 year contract marks a new beginning of a successful collaboration between the Kolkata-based company and the US-based Starwood.

The deets on the property

Two towers will host 323 rooms in total, spread across a land expanse of eight acres. While most of the area will be dedicated to the actual hotel itself, portions have been chalked out to make way for retail facilities and other commercial outlets between the two towers.

Rumour has it that this isn’t the only plan being invested in by SIDCL. The group is working on another star property deal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, but it is too premature and no official comments have been released yet. A vague figure of Rs 240 crore for 200 rooms is all that has surfaced.
