Burberry Goes Pop with New Music Single
The Feeling at Abbey Road
Here's a first: Burberry is the first luxury label to bring out its own music single.
The British brand, which has successfully recast itself as an edgy "young old label" (as CEO Angela Ahrendt put it at a conference on luxury in Delhi this week), with the help of some cool digital marketing and live streamed fashion shows, collaborated with the not-so-well-known Irish band The Feeling for the project.
The single, called Rosé (Unplugged at Abbey Road for Burberry Body), released on October 10.
The song is a stripped down version (only the piano and strings accompany the vocals) of The Feelings' original song by the same name. Rosé, originally released in the band's debut album, has been recorded at Abbey Road for Burberry, for the brand's multimedia launch of its signature Burberry Body scent.
Music and Branding
According to the brand's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey, music is a hugely important facet of the Burberry world. "With the launch of Burberry Body we wanted to create an iconic soundtrack that reflects the sensuality and attitude of the fragrance. We worked with The Feeling, a band that I have long admired on a unique recording of Rosé at Abbey Road," he said in a statement.
