Speaking of south Mumbai, if you are invited to high tea to any of the SoBo households, keep an eye on the silverware. You may just spot ornate Victorian-era silver tea sets and other accessories that belonged to a prominent Parsi family.
The family with an iconic mansion on Warden Road, had recently sold off some of their priceless heirloom pieces. Among them, sterling tea sets, service trays and cutlery, some of which even bear the family's unmistakeable initials.
While the more discerning shied away from picking up the embossed pieces, there were others who could not keep their hands off them. Antique dealers, who had helped spread the word around, insist, they were a steal, and not a deal. But they are not talking about who's picked them up, yet.
