It is time for the second installment of the luxury and art auction for the The Research Society for the Care, Treatment and Training of Children In Need of Special Care, Sewri. Zia Mody continues to play a stellar role in organising the event, thanks to her brother’s three decades of association with the school here.
Mody has used her influence with corporate entities to generate buzz and ensure participation in the auction which has everything from S H Raza paintings to Hermes handbags and even a coffee date with Ranbir Kapoor. With starting bids ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 4 lakh, the auction could use some seriously deep pockets to help the children.
Meanwhile, Farah Khan and Bijal Meswani have also added some muscle to the auction. The former has helped rope in John Abraham and Ranbir for the auction, while Meswani has helped get sponsors and the luxury brands. Incidentally, not all the items here have been fully donated for charity.
We have learnt, the organisers had to pay 50 per cent of the gallery price for the prized artworks. Nevertheless, for one of the oldest such organisations in the city, it should generate enough buzz and enough monies to keep the children happy and comfortable.
