Go to: Udaipur

Stay at: The Taj Lake Palace

Why: Spend a chilled out New Year's Eve at the Taj's Lake Palace hotel on Lake Pichola. The package includes accommodation for a minimum of one night, breakfast, airport transfers, a heritage walk at the palace followed by drinks, a sunset cruise on Lake Pichola, daily yoga sessions and access to the spa. You have to pay extra for the New Year's Eve dinner, however.

The package cost depends on the room you book, the New Year's Eve dinner is Rs 12,000 per person.

Go to: Aamby Valley, near Pune

Stay at: Aamby Valley's chalets

Why: The Glitterati party package at Aamby Valley includes a two-night and three-day stay and entry to the Glitterati event. But the real reason you'll be going to Aamby Valley is to watch Malaika Arora Khan groove to Munni Badnam Hui and other such hits.

The package costs Rs 55, 000 per couple.

Go to: Mumbai

Stay at: Sahara Star

Why: They've got a big, fat party, Seduction 2011, going on that stars Mallika Sherawat and Mugda Ghodse and includes a stand up comedy act among other things. Wrap up the night at the hotel's decadent Uranium or Neptune Suites that come with additional living spaces, Jacuzzis and glass-walled bathrooms.
