Pick up Raza, Husain or Souza at Saffronart's Art + Rare Books Sale

Indian online auction house Saffronart will host 'Words and Lines', a 24-hour online auction starting April 20. This auction will feature 90 lots that include rare and important publications on Indian artists, and drawings by about 26 modern Indian artists.

This art auction is set to offer art aficionados a wide range of drawings dating back to as early as the 1940s. Artists featured in this auction include FN Souza, Nasreen Mohamedi, KK Hebbar, MF Hussain, SH Raza and Jehangir Sabavala. Books by prominent authors Edwin Mullins, Richard Bartholomew, Shiv S Kapur, Jacques Lassaigne and Geeta Kapur will also be on sale.

An auction highlight is a rare set of pages from FN Souza's personal scrapbook from the 1960s, which offers a glimpse into his personal life at a very important juncture in his career. Collectors will also be able to bid for out-of-print art publications dating from the 1950s, including some of the first monographs published on Indian artists in India and abroad.

The total lower and higher estimates for the 'Words & Lines' 24-hour auction are Rs  97.3 lakh and Rs 1.3 crore. The auction will begin online at 8:00 pm (IST). Collectors can place bids at Saffronart.com
