When English musician Eric Clapton isn't making music, he’s busy with his cars, and it's well-known that he's a Ferrari aficionado. And so for such a famous enthusiast, the car makers produced a one-off model just for him.
What makes this car stand out? Designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and the engineers from Maranello, the SP12 EC pays homage to Clapton's career and his long-lasting experience as a Ferrari owner.
The world-famous guitar player has been attached to one particular Ferrari model - the 512 BB (that goes back to the 1970s and early 1980s). He's owned three 512 BBs over the years. So his desire was to drive a car inspired by this model, with influences from the multi-award winning 458 Italia. Although Clapton wanted Ferrari's 6.0-liter V12s engine bay, they could only fit the 458 Italia's 4.5-litre one.
By combining style and technology in perfect proportions, the architecture of the SP12 EC - which is part of Ferrari's One-Off Programme – makes this an exceptional car. And if we are to believe the word around, this one-off car could have cost Clapton around £3 million.
