Buddha Bar, Dubai
Buddha Bar is coming to India. Well, sort of. The people behind the brand are launching in India this month, with their first B-Bar branded restaurant and lounge.
The über-luxe b-bar is huge - it's spread over 25,000 sqft. Of this about 16,000sqft is dedicated to the restaurant, which can seat 330. B-bar, located at Select City Walk, also has four private dining rooms.
Buddha Bar Kiev
Expect the décor here to look like the Buddha Bars in Paris, Monte Carlo, Dubai and even Kiev; rich reds, gold and brocade fabrics with pan-Asian design are a standard and designed to channel Buddhist Zen.
Music-wise, the Buddha Bar has spawned a worldwide cult of DJs who have produced lounge music albums. At b-bar, resident DJ Naz, will spin tracks which include the legendary Buddha Bar chill-out sound, starting with Lounge music and progressing to Electronic and House music with Asian influences.
The Buddha Bar menu is fusion Asian, and b-bar Delhi will be following in it's footsteps with with signature dishes accentuated with India flavours.
What's in a Name?
According to an Economic Times report, the brand will be launching in India under the b-bar brand to avoid the controversy it faced in Jakarta. There, Buddha Bar faced a backlash related to its name and the Buddha statue usually showcased at other outposts. The b-bar in New Delhi will not have a Buddha statue; instead, expect a 'peaceful resting Samurai'.
B-Bar, 4th floor at Select City Walk, Saket, New Delhi. Hours: From 12:30pm-3.30pm, lounge from 6pm and dinner 7pm onwards.
