BMW is Still Indians' Favourite Car
Luxury cars have got the Indian car enthusiasts spinning on their (w)heels. And just when you think one top-of-the-line car has entered the market, yet another one zooms in behind it. And despite the new entrants in the luxury car segment, BMW India has still managed to hold on to its number 1 spot by selling 1,027 units in March. BMW India is the first luxury car manufacturer to cross the 1,000 mark in a single month.
Until now BMW India has delivered 2,147 cars to customers in 2011 (500 units in January, 620 units in February and 1,027 units in March). The BMW 5 series sedan is supposed to have been a major player in this success story. Sales this March grew 69.75 per cent from 605 units in the same month last year. The firm's previous best ever monthly sales in India were in December 2010 at 901 units, an Economic Times report stated.
