SaffronArt is hosting its first auction of rugs and carpets. The auction features carpets from Turkey, Persia and India. Belonging to the 1920s and 1930s, these carpets are just what will give your home touch of vintage. The auction that began at 8pm last night will end at 8 pm today.
The collection has carpets and rugs made of different weaves, colours and sizes. The auction will definitely be of interest to those keen about carpet making in Asia. It will showcase carpets with different craftsmanship from Chinese and Mughal to Afghan and Turkish. The highlight of the auction is a Persian Kashan carpet made of fine gossamer wool dyed in natural, indigo, blue and rose. It was woven in the first half of the 20th century. The total turnout of the auction is estimated to be between Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 1.75 crore.
