Auction Alert: Saffronart Brings Impressionist Art to India

Clockwise: works by Vincent van Gogh, Lynn Chadwik and Marc Chagall

Here’s your chance to own impressionist artists like Picasso and Dali. For the first time, auction house Saffronart is bringing works of art by impressionist and modern artists like Piccasso, Dali and Matisse to India. It also is putting up for auction a priced work of Van Gogh that is estimated to fetch $800,000 (approx Rs. 3.91 crore)

This auction, which features 73 works, will host a variety of paintings, works on paper and sculptures. And it will be for the first time that Saffronart will be hosting an auction of western art of this caliber. The auction will have significant work by legends like Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Fernand Léger, and others.

Watch Out For These 
One masterpiece to watch out for is L’allée aux deux promeneurs, one of Van Gogh's earlier works. Also up for auction is Lisière du bois, by impressionist artist Camille Pissarro. The modern art selection includes Piccasso's famous oil painting, Le Transformateur from 1953. There will also be works of known sculptor like Henry Moore, and Lynn Chadwick.

The online auction will be held online on February 15 and 16. Some of the works can be previewed at Saffronart’s galleries at Mumbai and Delhi.
