Auction Alert: Christie's Gears Up for First Online Wine Sale
What you can't buy off a shelf, Christie's will give you online. Last year the auctioneers, held an online-only auction of Elizabeth Taylor jewels which garnered a whopping €120 million. This time Christie's is launching its first exclusive online wine sale. The highest bid is estimated at $35,000 for (obviously!) rare wines that include a Château Latour, a 1982 Château Lafite-Rothschild and Montrachet among 300 other bottles.
Expected to open for bidding from August 6 to 20, the auction goes by the name of Signature Cellars and will have the produce of Bordeaux and Burgundy to rare Bandol wines in France and the Napa Valley.
