$80 Million or More for Munch’s ‘The Scream’ Auction

New York’s auction on May 2 will witness a one of its kind auction. The famous Edvard Munch’s ‘only’ privately owned version of ‘The Scream’ is finally set to be sold by Sotheby’s auction house. What makes it completely exclusive is the fact that the painting has only four versions and this one is now going have a new owner. And we are sure many art connoisseurs are vying to add it to their collection. Currently owned by a Norwegian businessman, Petter Olsen (who is a Munch’s companion), the pastel version has been preserved in the same condition as it was seen when freshly painted. This version goes back to the year of 1895. The painting is one of a kind and is expected to rope in at least $80 million. One can only expect the price to go higher. Olsen’s love for art cannot go unnoticed as he has confirmed that the proceeds would be utilised to build a new museum, an art centre and a hotel at his farm in Norway.
