JW Marriott Marquis is set for a 2013 launch in Dubai
No, we won’t ignore our popular cars and watches segment (more on that later), but this week we must start with all-the-buzz in the real estate sector. Off the top of our heads we can list some much-awaited luxury hotels that will open their doors in 2013. You could retire from your shopping spree at the Sheraton or enjoy the breathtaking views from the skyscraper that will be the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. Fancy some royal treatment? Take your pick from the Fonab Castle in Scotland and the Shangri-La in Shard, London. Or even better, make your holiday getaway to the sandy Maldives and lounge around at LVMH’s Maison—the options are aplenty!
While Louis Vuitton waits with fingers crossed over their hotel project, there is much reason for cheer on the other side of the world. Proud owner of a new address in the snowy Swiss Alps, LV’s second store was warmly received by the locals, attracting luxury aficionados from around the area.
What piqued our interest the most is obviously a project closer home. All set to construct an uber-luxurious residential skyscraper is Noida-based Supertech. Why this deal has our attention is because Armani’s going to brand stamp the property with enviable designer houses that are sure to have a staggering asking price. The successful Lodha-Armani deal in Mumbai makes us even more optimistic that the designer will sign on Supertech’s dotted line after all.
Bentley’s Continental GT Speed Convertible
Funky 4-wheel Drives
Back to the things you love, this week the star car would have to be Bentley’s Continental GT Speed Convertible. Going from 0 to 60 in just 4.1 seconds, the convertible boasts of a 625 PS twin turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine, and some really kickass 21” alloy wheels. Pimp that ride with wooden veneers, carbon fibre finish, some diamond quilted hide upholstery and head banging Naim speakers, and you’re more than sorted.
A 4-wheel drive of a different kind is Maclaren’s BMW buggy for children. This stroller priced at $385, comes with a padded liner, a luxurious bucket-seat feel, a multiple position recline seat, contoured hood with mesh windows and insignia details. Available at Harrods, your kids ride just got as fancy as yours mister!
Rotonde de Cartier: Panther with Granulation
Here are some time stoppers like no other. First up is the glittering in gold Rotonde de Cartier: Panther with Granulation. Multiple 22k gold balls have been treated and hand applied on the dial to create the imagery of a panther, in a manner that the final product can be only described as a multidimensional textural masterpiece. A matte black alligator skin strap balances the opulent 18k gold case embellished with 306 brilliant cut diamonds. Well you’re going to have to wait to get your hands on this one, it will be up on display at Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2013 from 21-25 Jan.
Although, on the brighter side, already available are some interesting timepieces by Pateck Phillipe. Often accused of sidelining the women’s collection, the maker has finally launched a microsite dedicated to please only the ladies. From detailed information on all the seven women’s watch families to a glimpse into Pateck Phillipe’s workshops, there’s no better way to get up, close and personal with your designer.
