Tod's Colosseum Makeover to Start by Dec '12

Diego and Andrea Della Valle
Italy's Colosseum made news when it began titling on one side, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. And funding the restoration of this world heritage site is Italian luxury brand Tod's.
Italy's cultural heritage minister Lorenzo Ornaghi, superintendent of Rome archaeological heritage Mariarosaria Barbera, Mayor Gianni Alemanno, and Tod's Diego Della Valle declared the restoration of the Colosseum, together with the details of the sponsorship.
The €25 million restoration of the Colosseum, financed by Tod's, will begin in December and work will take about two-and-a-half-years to complete.
And hold up! It's not a commercial move. Tod's claims that it is committed to restore the Colosseum for patronage only, without any commercial purpose.
Della Valle said that Tod's, by supporting this project, was contributing to a better conservation of one of Italy's best-known symbols in the world.
So as planned, the foundation will raise awareness of the restoration project in Italy and around the world and will try to motivate non-profit actions that might attract young people to the beauty of this monument.
We like how Tod's is doing it's bit for conservation and culture.
