(L-R) Suzanne Roshan, Little Shilpa, Gauri and Nainika
When French interiors experts (and exhibition organisers) from the Paris Region Economic Development Agency (PREDA) were in Mumbai to catch up with a few Indian interior designers, I happened to be present at the cocktail party too. So hopping around, glass of champagne in hand, I chatted with quite a few invitees. And considering how the world always wants to know which brands the city's glamorous women are wearing, most of our conversations were fashion-based.
Suzanne Roshan was obviously one of the first to arrive, because the party was at her store, The Charcoal Project, in Andheri. And through the evening we bumped into each other and that's when the pretty star wife told me she was in a Zac Posen dress and Jimmy Choo sandals.
(L) Gauri Khan at Suzanne's party; (R) at the Bombay Times bash
Gauri Khan was there too, people-watching. I went to say hello. Curious about the maker of her pretty metallic silver dress, I asked her whose creation it was. To my surprise, she twisted around, flipped her hair over and she asked me to check the label on her dress. She'd paired her dress, a label from Dubai it turned out, with black and silver Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. She headed to the Bombay Times bash thereafter.
(L-R) Natasha Poonawala, Sonali Bendre and Queenie Singh
Also at the party was Sonali Bendre, in a Gaurav Gupta dress. She came, she saw, she left early.
Towards the end, I bumped into Queenie Singh, and asked her who she was wearing. It wasn't the best question to ask her it turned out, because she thought I was from a website that catalogues what people wear to parties. And after I told her I wasn't, she grumbled about how much she "hated that website." But she eventually did tell me that she was in an Emporio Armani dress and Giuseppe Zanotti pumps.
