Porsche's Moccasin Design Wins Design Award

Luxury label Porsche Design, known for its high end men's luxury accessories, has won the Red Dot Award, one of the most prestigious awards in design.
The designer brand, part of the same group that makes the Porsche 911 sports car, won the Red Dot Award in the fashion and accessories category for its P'1700 Cannes moccasin design in footwear. It is the most coveted international prize for product design awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Essen, Gemany to trendsetters in design.
Porsche Design picked up the award because of its simple yet stylish design philosophy. The design of the P'1700 Cannes moccasin is based on the design of the traditional moccasin except for its sole. This asymmetrical, seamless sole comes with aluminium inserts. This design ensures that the wearer gets a perfect fit with comfort and style. Dr Juergen Gessler, CEO of Porsche design said that the company aimed at making durable products rather than follow trends blindly.
AG Stuggart of Porsche picked up the Red Dot Award. Porsche Design's P'1700 Cannes moccasin was chosen from over 4,000 other submissions.
