Ferragamo Designs Team San Marino's Uniforms for London Olympics
Salvatore Ferragamo has designed the uniforms that athletes of the Republic of San Marino situated on the Italian Peninsula will wear during the 2012 London Olympics. The luxury brand has designed a complete men's and women's collection with outfits for any occasion, ranging from leisure wear to evening dresses. Other major brands like Giorgio Armani, Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren have also designed uniforms for Olympic athletes from their countries. Check them out here.
The Women's Collection
The athletes of Team San Marino will wear blue bias-cut linen blazers over crepe de Chine shirts with white cotton trousers during official events. For formal evenings, the classic sheath dress turns into a total white silk crepe dress, its neckline graced with a small organdie drape. The shoes in porcelain-coloured nappa are square-toed with a Vara bow.
Designed for leisure is a re-proportioned trench, an ultra-lightweight summer jacket that doubles up as a vest. Taking multipurpose garments very seriously, there are also a reversible two-tone belt, as well as evergreens such as a cashmere pullover, a button-down poplin shirt, beige trousers, and blue nappa loafers. The brand's iconic bag, the Sofia, comes in a small version in luminous ecru calfskin to round up the collection.
The Men's Athletic Collection
Menswear classics include a straight cut trench, a passepartout, which is a simple dress over the zip-up cashmere turtle neck, blue chinos and dark brown loafers. For more formal occasions, Ferragamo has designed a pinstripe suit and complete black Oxford lace-ups. For a more relaxed style there is a blue blazer and beige chinos.
Apart from all that wardrobe access, there is a kit of accessories that includes a large leather duffel bag, a small shoulder bag and a beauty case.
