Dareen Hakim's Luxury Bags Come to Mumbai's Bungalow 8

Maithili Ahluwalia is hosting New York-based Lebanese designer Dareen Hakim at her store, Bungalow 8, this weekend. What perhaps gives this association a unique spin is that Hakim, whose handbags have been endorsed by the likes of Eva Longoria and Fergie, is the first of the 12 international and desi designers to show here in the next few months.

With diverse backgrounds and aesthetics, the one thing that binds the designers together is their global vision and local moorings. For example, among the other names that are doing the rounds is Tara Matthews, who is known for her swimwear line with Indian embroidery, crafted in India and Brazil. We also heard that Rachel Dooley, whose edgy accessories have been a rage on American soaps, has been lined up for the project.
