Week in Luxury Launches: Priciest… Fastest… Latest…
Epic EV Torq, and Tag Heuer’s Prestige Gold and Carbon (inset)
First one across the eco-conscious finish line is Epic EV’s Torq, a three wheel roadster geared for unveiling on 6th April, in California. The electric vehicle is pretty impressive, doing 0-100 km/h in just 4 seconds (a lot better than some four wheel drives). While more deets are awaited on the cutstomisation options and specs of this green drive, the brand has confirmed the base price at $65,000.
Now setting a record of sorts in luxury and bespoke service is the St Regis San Francisco, with its latest—the ‘En Route to Excellence’ package. On yet another association with Bentley, the package entitles you to a night stay in one of the hotel’s suites, breakfast for 2 at the Vitirine, a special gift, and complimentary parking along with unparalleled access to a 2013 Bentley GT, Bentley GTC, or Bentley Mulsanne. So, at $2,350 per night, would you rather drive yourself or opt for the hotel’s chauffer assistance.
And if St Regis is carving a speedy route to luxury, Tag Heuer is also counting on car aficionados for their big sales. In the spotlight again are the brand’s Android touch phones with a customisable 3D UI that will remind you of the brand’s heritage in GT cars and Formula 1. Our favourites? Tag Heuer’s Prestige Gold and Carbon, and Tag Heuer’s Sun Nano.

Making a billion dollar mark this week is oil baron Harold Hamm, whose $11.3 billion net worth’s just been downsized by $5 billion, courtesy his very expensive divorce settlement with second wife Sue Ann Ham, a lawyer herself. Though Harold will continue to be a billionaire, that has to be an ‘ouch’ moment for even the wealthiest and most affluent in the world.
Should Mr Hamm be wallowing in his sorrow until next year, we recommend the most expensive divorce deserves a very expensive recuperating holiday home… perhaps in Monaco? The destination will now house the world’s most expensive penthouse property per square metre, with a penthouse in the 170m Odeon Tower—the second tallest building on the Mediterranean coastline. The multi-storey haven will sprawl across 3,300 sq m in area, replete with a private water slide, an exclusive infinity pool, and of course a price tag of $388 million.

Dibs on Drinks
Any guesses who gets to make the first call on Johnnie Walker’s uber exclusive Directors Blend? Well apparently there’s no way to know. The special edition dedicated to people who’ve made a mark in the world, will be distributed under the brand’s discretion, who will single-handedly determine the receivers of these 504 numbered bottles. How snooty!
Or maybe it’s just a gimmick to garner public interest, just as we saw with Perrier Jouet’s ‘The Enchanting Tree’ debut at the Saatchi Gallery in London. With a whole Spring-inspired illustration created by Dutch designer Tord Boontje, the unique champagne service showcased a golden tree with branches that functioned as champagne flute holders, and a Perrier Jouet bubbly in an ice box at the base. Well if we can’t take it home, what’s the point, eh?
