To be honest, we raised a collective eye brow when we heard that the posh London department store Harrods was offering a very expensive blowdry service, which included beauty benefits from diamond dust and meteorite extracts. But it looks like the race to create the most opulent, outrageous beauty treatment is only getting hotter. Recently, the Four Seasons in Florence, Italy rolled out it's over-the-top facial that uses real gold.
The ornately frescoed hotel launched a luxurious 24k gold facial at its exclusive spa. While history tells us that Cleopatra is believed to have slept with a gold mask every night, the treatment here goes on for a good 120 minutes.
Science and Beauty
The facial, based on scientific research, was introduced by Japanese company UMO, which delivers a special solvent via their proprietary PGA/Nano mist technology. This technology dissolves the gold, carried via paper-thin aureate leaves.
The liquefied metal then crosses the skin's barrier and immediately activates its lifting, firming and lightening properties. So this treatment provides instant results too.
If you're not too happy with your other anti-ageing creams and lotions, this 410 euros (approx Rs 27,000) skin treatment could probably sort you out all at once.
