He’s 51 years old and radiates charm and charisma reminiscent of Cary Grant, with the kind of good looks that women covet and men envy. Even as we meet at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, I think to myself, he certainly knows how to win people over.

Given the role you played in The Descendants, I have to ask, how would you deal with deceit in your own life?

I’ll tell you how I’ll do it, I would kill. Deceit, in general, is kind of a really rotten place to be, it’s one of the worst traits. I believe in the idea of loyalty, and deceit is one of the worst things that a person could do, [such as] lie to people.

Your character in the film forgives his wife's lover; do you think that you could do the same in real life?

The whole time that I was doing the film I thought to myself, ‘Boy, I would kill this guy; I would have told his wife what he was up to’. But the character I play is caught up in a strange place in his life and he wants to do right by every one. But I don’t know if that would be my makeup.

You are the face of Omega. Why Omega?

My father wore an Omega for 20 years; my first watch was an Omega, so Omega feels like it’s a part of my family.

What does time mean to you?

Time is more important for me now. The less time I have, the more I appreciate it.

Define luxury.

Free time is a luxury, vacations are a luxury, and owning a good watch is a luxury.
